If you’re spending more time in your favourite luxury auto than in your home, perhaps it is time to consider why. Do you love the thrill of the engine vibrating under you as you tear across highways and rough terrains? Or, are you so in love with the entirety of your vehicle that you cherish your quiet moments together, choosing to let yourself wander as you’re enveloped in its warm, cosy interior? If it’s the latter, then you should consider modelling your home decor after your favourite luxury auto.

If you love your luxury auto more than your home, maybe it’s time to bring it home. Image courtesy of Car and Driver

In the last decade, luxury auto firms have pivoted sharply into real estate, opening up everything from skyscrapers to private homes. Now, you may never get to own a slice of real estate from your fave luxury auto brand, but, who says you have to? If auto-tuning businesses are a thing, custom-built homes based on luxury auto concepts can surely exist.

Wondering how to pull it off? Here are some things to consider

Consider the brand’s DNA

It goes without saying that every luxury auto brand has its unique DNA, philosophy and identity that defines it, and, if you’re absolutely in love with a marque, you most likely resonate with its beliefs and core values.

Let’s say you love Ferraris. You most likely love bold colours and designs that reflect power. Or, if Porsches are more your thing, you might be an adherent of quiet luxury with the occasional bold accents.

The new Aston Martin logo.
Before modelling the interior of your home after your favourite luxury auto, consider everything the brand stands for and see how you can adopt that. Image courtesy of Aston Martin

Should you choose to design your home or space after your favourite luxury auto, the first rule is to consider what the brand stands for and see how you can incorporate that into your home design.

Choose a specific model. Or not

Just considering the brand’s DNA might not be enough to give you the complete look you desire, so your next step is to list the specific model (s) you love from your chosen brand.

So say you adore Rolls Royce, but not all its models truly fascinate you. The design idea for your living room can come from elements in the Black Badge Wraith, and you can narrow things further in your bedroom by incorporating details from one of its unique models, like the Arcadia.

2024 Porsche Panamera can serve as the bases of your luxury auto-inspired home decor
Copying ideas off a unique model (that you may or may not own) can help bring your decor idea together nicely. Image courtesy of Auto Evolution

Tying design elements and choice of materials to specific models of your favourite luxury auto brand can help to give you a more interesting, creative and cohesive outcome.

Materials, materials

Here’s one truth about true luxury brands: quality materials are everything. From the richest leathers to the softest fabrics, luxury auto brands always ensure that every material put together to make their vehicles is not just premium but offers the best comfort and evokes the best positive emotions that money can buy.

Customers can customise based on leather grades and colours
Want a luxury auto-themed interior home decor? Only premium materials are allowed. Image courtesy of Bugatti

Which is exactly what you have to do when designing your luxury auto-themed home. From soft leather sofas to chrome door handles, luxurious wood accents and flooring, every material used and piece added has to have the same level of premium quality as your dream auto.

Craftsmanship

Experienced and meticulous craftsmanship is another factor that sets true luxury autos apart, so get ready to invest in the services of the best in the field if you want your home to look anything like your luxury car.

Without the right craftsperson to put it all together, your luxury auto-themed home project will not see the light of day. Image courtesy of Rolls Royce

Custom-built furniture is a must, as are handcrafted items like rugs and accents. Experienced artisans who are extremely detailed are also necessary to help bring your dream to life.

Include the fireworks

What’s a luxury car without the wow factor?

To get the perfect finish on your luxury auto-themed home, make sure to include standout features that tie the entire vision together, like dramatic lighting for example, or a feature wall, or even contrasting accessories and accents that would elevate the entire design and start conversations every time someone steps into your space.

Spending time with what you truly love is important, but, so also is spending time with who you love. Your beloved luxury auto should take you home and not away from it. If you find yourself spending more time in your car than in your home, then maybe it is time to bring it in with these outlined steps which is a good starter guide to designing your home interior after your favourite luxury auto.

If you have perhaps thought that the Porsche Design Tower is not for you, or that the Aston Martin Residences did not tick all the boxes on ‘my perfect luxury condo’ list then maybe a peek into the Bentley Residences in Miami might be what you need to get you hooked on the concept of luxury residential apartments by luxury auto brands.

The Bentley Residences Miami is certainly making a hard case for this. Since the building project was revealed back in 2021, Bentley, together with partner, luxury property specialist Dezer Development, has announced exciting new features that make the apartments in the residential complex the ultimate luxury maison to retire to every day or relax in during vacations.

First, Bentley said that each of the 216 apartments would include a generous view of the Atlantic Ocean via floor-to-ceiling windows that have the added advantage of bringing in as much light as possible. But since constantly viewing the outdoors from inside is never enough, “expansive balconies, each with its own private, heated swimming pool” were added so that residents get a chance to actually enjoy the open air when they get tired of staying indoors without leaving their condos.

However, high-rise luxury beachfront apartments are probably a dime a dozen in Miami, so Bentley decided to sweeten the deal. While you may not find this added feature altogether necessary, the fact that it even exists is a very good indicator of the kind of innovation that would be present everywhere in the apartment complex. The feature? The ‘Dezervator’, a patented elevator that takes you and your car directly from the lobby to your floor.

A special ‘car elevator’ will enable residents drive up to their apartments. Image courtesy of Bentley

If you’re still reeling from this last information, Bentley is here to keep you grounded with other more commonplace, shared amenities such as a wellness centre and a spa; a games room complete with VR headsets, simulators for golf and driving (of course!), and, a cigar lounge and restaurant for relaxing and entertainment.

But as you may have noticed, luxury and ordinary do not generally mix well, which is why the auto brand has now decided to throw in yet another bespoke offering: residents at the Bentley Residences Miami will be able to exclusively enjoy dishes from chef Todd English. The celebrity chef has joined the concept as a partner to deliver “seasonal menus that will make dining at Bentley Residences a joy for residents and their guests.” Although the restaurant will be for residents only, it will also be available for private catering and poolside dining.

If you’re not already sold on the idea of getting an apartment at the Bentley Residences Miami, don’t worry: with everything on offer so far, it is safe to say that the British automaker still has more exclusive features coming up to help you make up your mind. Thankfully, the building is set to open in 2026, so there is still plenty of time to explore its many amenities while you come to a decision.

2022 may have been a tumultuous year for global economies, but for luxury car brands, it was a different reality. The reports are in, and from Lamborghini to Rolls Royce to Bentley, last year might as well be ‘the year of the luxury car’ as almost all auto brands recorded increased sales and deliveries.

Rolls Royce

The British brand, according to an official press release, had its highest-ever annual sales in 2022. It sent out a total of 6,021 cars, the first time in its 118-year history it has exceeded 6000 deliveries in a 12-month period.

While all Rolls Royce models experienced increased demand in 2022, the Cullinan sold the most. Image courtesy of Rolls Royce Motor Cars Tampa Bay

This increase is not limited to just one model, although the Cullinan topped the list of the ‘most in-demand Rolls Royce.’ Its Bespoke commission has also received increased patronage, mostly from the Middle East.

Bentley

Bentley’s growth started in 2021 when it delivered 14,659 cars, up from 11,206 cars the previous year. And it did not stop in 2022. With a total of 15,174 deliveries, not only did it smash its 2021 records, but it also created a new a new one: it would be the first time the luxury automaker would surpass 15,000 deliveries in a single year.

Bentley was another luxury brand with high delivery rates for 2022
Bespoke programs also helped to boost luxury car sales and deliveries in 2022. Image courtesy of Bentley

Like Rolls Royce, Bentley’s success can be attributed to the Bentayga, its luxury SUV. The highly celebrated model accounted for a whopping 42% of sales, while the bespoke Mulliner programme also contributed to the high numbers.

Lamborghini

A 10% increase in deliveries meant that Lamborghini successfully got 9,233 of its cars to their owners, up from 8,405 the previous year.

The Lamborghini Huracán Tecnica
As luxury cars continue to roll out new models to meet demand, more buyers are trooping in to snap them up. Image courtesy of Lamborghini

In what is now a clear denominator across all luxury auto brands, increased demand for the Urus Super SUV is the major reason for this number.

Porsche

The German luxury brand managed to deliver a total of 309,884 vehicles in 2022 to its customers worldwide, representing a 3% increase from the previous year.

The Porsche Macan T contributed to increased sales for the brand in 2022
For Porsche, it was the same success story in 2022: more sales and deliveries. Image courtesy of Porsche

Again, the brand’s SUVs are primarily to thank for this success story: the Porsche Cayenne went out to 95,604 customers, while 86,724 buyers took delivery of their Macans in the same year.

How were luxury auto brands able to record such high sales in 2022?

According to industry experts, recessions or periods of economic volatility cause the rich to store their wealth in alternative assets like autos, jewellery and high-end timepieces to safeguard it against fluctuations. Since these assets tend to hold and even surpass their value over the years, it comes as no surprise that luxury cars enjoyed unprecedented sales in 2022.

Another reason proposed is that an increase in disposable income from the 2020 wealth surge means that the affluent have more than enough money to get themselves whatever they desire, hence the increase in the purchase of luxury items, including cars, which is considered a ‘wise’ way to dispose of extra funds.

the Lamborghini Urus Performante
By constantly evolving to meet consumers’ needs, luxury car brands have managed to remain desirable as seen in their 2022 sales stats. Image courtesy of Lamborghini

In the end, however, it appears that the answer is the principle behind every successful business: give people what they want while communicating your product’s unique and life-changing value, and they would pay you whatever you ask for. In other words, when people can connect real, tangible value to a product, they go all out to get it.

Nearly all the luxury car brands that experienced an uptick in sales/deliveries in 2022 have an SUV in their lineup. Clearly, luxury auto enthusiasts want utility vehicles that marry performance with high-end features, and these brands have successfully delivered.

2022 was clearly the year for luxury car brands and you might be wondering if their winning streak will continue into 2023. It is still too early to tell, but with the demand for luxury EVs rising, and with these auto brands rushing to deliver what is for some their first electric marques, the answer might very well be ‘yes.’

Recently, seemingly unrelated brands have come together to create truly iconic, one-of-a-kind pieces that are sure to outlive their era. So when The Macallan and Bentley Motors announced a new partnership back in 2021 that they said would see them share insights from their respective industries on both luxury and sustainability, it did not sound unusual. However, their first creation, The Macallan Horizon, is anything but usual.

The Macallan Horizon: a design like no other

A little over a year after announcing their partnership, The Macallan and Bentley Motors have unveiled the design and vision of their first product – The Macallan Horizon, a limited-edition single malt whisky that is set to be available in the summer of 2023.

The Macallan Horizon x Bentley

The Macallan Horizon perfectly represents the vision of luxury and sustainability both brands had in mind when they chose to work together. Combining their traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology and innovative materials, the brands designed a bottle that rests horizontally, instead of vertically to reflect the horizontal trajectory of the automotive world.

Whisky experts understand the sheer innovation of this design: whisky bottles, unlike their wine counterparts, must be stored upright to keep the cork from disintegrating which would in turn lead to leaks. That The Macallan Horizon can rest horizontally without affecting the cork is a testament to the skill, innovative tech, research and creativity behind its creation.

Twisting 180 degrees from base to top in a move that reflects motion through space and time (Bentley is the self-acclaimed master of the former and The Macallan, the latter), the bottle has no standing base and therefore, must be stored in its case.

A fine fusion of Luxury and sustainability

Staying true to their original goals, The Macallan and Bentley Motors incorporated six unique upcycled, repurposed or ethically sourced materials in the production of The Macallan Horizon. Among them are recycled copper from the disused curiously small spirit stills which were located within The Macallan’s former distillery; aluminium recovered from the Bentley Motors manufacturing process; recycled wood; recyclable glass and carbon neutral leather, locally sourced, and also used in the recently unveiled Bentley Mulliner grand tourer.

The Macallan Horizon took elements from bentley cars for its design
Elements from Bentley autos informed the design of the bottle. Image courtesy of Bentley

As for the drink itself, its flavour profile was developed by The Macallan Master Whisky Maker Kirsteen Campbell following a visit to Bentley Motors in Crewe, where she observed first-hand their shared passion for creativity, craftsmanship and innovation.

A new era for the drinks industry?

Over time, rare whiskies have proven to be great alternative investment items. Would The Macallan Horizon, with its unusual innovative design based on the pillars of luxury and sustainability open a new chapter in the design and development of whiskies in general, thereby bumping up their value over time?

This is one question only the future can answer.

Swiss luxury watchmaker Breitling, and British luxury automaker and marketer, Bentley, have announced the end of their 19-year partnership that has been heralded as the longest ever collaboration between an auto and watchmaker brand.

In celebration of this iconic and largely successful partnership, both brands look back on the key moments and products of their 19-year history together.

Timeline of the Breitling – Bentley Partnership

2002:

After a more than 6-decade absence from Le Mans, team Bentley returns to the racing competition where the famous ‘Bentley Boys’ had achieved their greatest victories in the late 1920s. Breitling was Team Bentley’s proud main sponsor and celebrated their return with the Bentley Le Mans Limited Edition Chronograph. The timepiece features a 24-hour dial in honour of the race’s duration.

Notable models from this period include the Breitling for Bentley Barnato timepieces in honour of Joel Woolf Barnato – the most successful of, the ‘Bentley Boys’ and financier of the brand from 1924 until the Wall Street Crash of 1929.

Another remarkable model is the Breitling for Bentley VI complication made in honour of the coupe with the same name, while the Breitling GT racing models celebrate the sportsmanship of the Continental GT coupé.

Bentley is giving you one more reason to look forward to its electric vehicles – as if we really needed one to own a Bentley: music that matches your driving.

Anyone who drives frequently will most likely admit that there are times when you desperately need a song that will literally cheer you on through the ‘Fast and Furious’ moves you’re doing on the road, giving you that added boost that will make your daring twists and turns all the more exhilarating.

Bentley EVs will come with adaptive music from LifeScore that matches a driver's driving style

And when you are sitting still in traffic, looking at the goings-on around you and wondering if two hours would be enough for that meeting you are running late for, it can be annoying when a noisy, brash radio tune loudly interrupts your thoughts.

Bentley totally gets this need, and, in partnership with adaptive music experts, LifeScore, is working on creating complex algorithms that allow vehicle inputs such as engine RPM and acceleration to influence the composition in real-time, constantly adapting depending on driving conditions and the driver’s style.

Using AI, the vehicle will try to decode your mood from factors like the RPM and acceleration
Music will come up based on acceleration and the engine’s RPM. Image courtesy of Lux Exposé

This true driver-vehicle-music synchronisation that has only existed in the world of movies is an industry first that will definitely catch on as other automakers get to see the advantage of automatically providing matching music to enhance the total driving experience.

LifeScore’s music library contains compositions from world-class musicians, contemporary and classical instruments, and innovative technology put together at the world-famous Abbey Road Studios. All of the audio elements are recorded in fully ambisonic (full-sphere surround sound) audio using more than 50 microphones to provide for all possible future formats. In the cabin of the future, sound can be designed to come from any direction at the highest possible resolution.

The Bentley and Lifescore adaptive music will come from original compositions from musicians and contemporary plus classical instruments.

What makes this feature even more impressive is the fact that using AI to minimise repetitions and maximise coherence, the vehicle can select, combine, layer and sequence together different building blocks (cells) of raw musical material from composers and musicians to produce the final result in real-time that can be more than 100 billion unique music tracks in an hour’s drive!

The adaptive music feature is only available for now in a demonstration vehicle, but Bentley and LifeScore are working to finetune this technology in time for the release of the former’s first full battery electric vehicle.

British luxury automaker, Bentley Motors, has recently announced the 2021 Home Collection in partnership with Bentley Home, which features four new furniture pieces: the Aldford Table, the Ramsey Sofa and Loveseat and the Styal Desk. Each of the furniture pieces has been carefully designed to include materials and finishes that are unique, blending fine craft with the newest technologies.

The 2021 Bentley Home Collection is also representative of the house’s latest efforts to become more environmentally friendly, in alignment with Bentley Motors’ ambitions to become the world’s most sustainable luxury automotive brand. The collection aims to push craftsmanship to new heights and introduces Bentley Home’s new Degrade lacquering and Marm \ More marble powder fabric to the market.

The four furniture pieces that make up the 2021 Bentley Home Collection have been designed by celebrated Italian architect, Carlo Colombo. The highlight of the collection is the new Styal Desk with an elegantly positioned sideboard, specifically designed to elevate the home office space. It also has several options for customization, making it a truly unique addition to any home. Meanwhile, the sleek and clean Aldford Table, which features a double curve at its base made possible due to innovative milling techniques, comes in both a rectangular and circular version.

Two pieces make up the Ramsey range: the sofa and the loveseat. Both the Ramsey sofa and loveseat have been designed with a backrest that tapers at the top, reaching out in a wing-like fashion. The Ramsey Loveseat is also the first loveseat created by Bentley Home – it has been designed to suit a range of homes and interior spaces, whether as a complement to the Ramsey sofa or an independent statement piece.

The launch of the 2021 Bentley Home Collection is also an important step towards the brand becoming more sustainable. Bentley Home is revealing an innovative ethical fabric called Marm \ More made solely from renewable resources with the collection. Developed and patented for Bentley Home, the new fabric has been sourced and produced in Italy by master craftsmen.

Marm \ More is made from marble dust, a by-product of marble production. The new fabric is available in two colours – light grey or natural green – and can be chosen for any upholstered product within the 2021 Collection or any of the older pieces in Bentley Home’s portfolio.

Expounding on details of this marque, Bentley, in an official press release explained that the car would maintain the performance credentials of its predecessor, which includes an ability to push the car from 0 to 60mph in just 3.8seconds, and a maximum speed of up to 190mph.  It would also be retaining the powerful W12 engine as well as the Mulliner Driving Specification.

As with its predecessor, the new Bentayga Speed is equipped with four on-road Drive Dynamics modes: Comfort at one extreme, Sport at the other and with Bentley mode – the balanced recommendation of Bentley’s chassis team in Crewe – alongside a Custom mode for customers who opt to create their own driving set-up. These modes enable drivers to use the power of the W12 engine appropriately and more effectively.

To match the elevated levels of performance, the Bentayga Speed sports a purposeful exterior look. Dark-tint headlights, body-coloured side skirts, unique front and rear bumpers and a striking, elongated tailgate spoiler characterise the Speed’s performance credentials. Dark-tint radiator and bumper grilles, a unique 22-inch wheel design available in two finishes (painted and dark tint) and Speed signature badging add to the sporting design cues. At the rear, the exhaust finishers are now the oval design that signifies a W12 powertrain. Dark-tint tail lamps complete the Speed exterior signature.

17 standard paint colours are supplemented by a further 47 hues in the Extended and Mulliner ranges, with an additional 24 duo-tone options. Customers wanting to go beyond this total of 88 options can have paintwork colour matched to any sample they provide. This exceptional range is complemented by a palette of 15 hide colours, six colour splits and eight veneers and two technical finishes.

The new Bentayga introduces a new, cutting-edge infotainment system. A bigger and brighter high-resolution 10.9-inch touchscreen, with an anti-reflection and anti-glare coating and much-improved touch functionality, now spans the entire width of the centre fascia for a more contemporary look. Content can be selected either via hard keys beneath the screen or from the main menu screen. A customisable dashboard can also be set up to show three favourites, such as phone, navigation or media.

As well as the usual array of media sources, wireless Apple CarPlay is now standard (in addition to the previous standard wired system), along with Android Auto. With a corresponding phone plugged into one of the car’s USB-C sockets, the central infotainment screen mirrors the smartphone display. The latest release of the My Bentley in-car and remote connected car services are available through the New Bentayga. In-car services now being delivered through an embedded SIM, as with the latest Continental GT, means online services no longer require a data connection from a customer’s mobile device.

Essential features including real-time traffic information and over-the-air map updates will be available to all customers in Bentley connected car markets. New connected features such as green traffic light prediction and local hazard information will become available depending on the market region.

Bentayga Speed will be offered for sale in those regions where demand for 12-cylinder SUVs remains strong – the USA, the Middle East and Asia Pacific regions. Bentley has not announced pricing yet, but it will definitely be in the neighbourhood of $240,000, the price of its predecessor.

The partnership between Breitling and British luxury carmaker Bentley began back in 2003, making it the longest-running association between a timepiece brand and an automotive marque.

Breitling x Bentley Limited Edition Timepiece

Their latest collaborative effort comes in the form of a new limited edition timepiece that celebrates Bentley’s 100th anniversary. Called the Breitling Premier Bentley Centenary Limited Edition, the special timepiece was revealed at the ongoing 2019 Geneva Motor show alongside the Bentley Continental GT Number 9 edition by Mulliner. The limited edition timepiece is mechanically and aesthetically the same as the Premier B01 Chronograph introduced last year. Which means it features a 42mm case that houses the in-house chronometer certified B01 automatic chronograph.

The brown elm burl dial of the Centenary Limited Edition mirrors the signature wood veneers Bentley uses in their luxury vehicles. It is available in two distinct finishes of stainless steel and 18K rose gold. Both the stainless steel and 18K rose gold versions will come fitted with a brown quilted leather strap, while the stainless steel version will also come on a bracelet. The stainless steel version will be limited to 1000 examples and will retail for 9,600 CHF (about $9,500 USD). The 18K rose gold version, on the other hand, will be available in a limited number of 200 units, priced at 27,000 CHF (roughly $26,730 USD). Both versions will go on sale starting in July 2019.

Both Bentley and Breitling are defined by their unwavering technological progress, world-leading craftsmanship and a modern and pioneering spirit.”

A growth in Kenya’s niche market amid rise in incomes and increasing expat community has lured many global shops in the East African State. While the most conspicuous entrants into the East African nation are supermarkets, top consumer brands in clothes, transport, food, banks and electronics have entered the market in the recent months.

Nairobi Fashion Store

The brands from different countries are seemingly scrambling to enter Kenya as consumers both in high-end and middle-income and the foreigners accept them. Kenya is home to various international organizations that include the United Nations Environment Programme and foreign embassies. These organizations have seen the expat community grow in Kenya providing ready market for the top brands.

Some of the top brands that have entered Kenya include German engineering and electronics firm, Bosch, which launched its first store in Central and East Africa in Nairobi recently.

Subway, a fast-food outlet, similarly, announced last week plans to open four more branches in Nairobi. For clothes shop, Kenyans have an array to choose from, which include LC Waikiki, a Turkish clothing line, The Foschini Group of South Africa, UK’s F&F and Austria’s and India’s jewellery shops Swarovski and Anmol. For cars, the luxury brands that have set shop in Kenya include Porsche, BMW and Bentley, among top brands in various industries.

At a top mall in Nairobi, one can shop at a French supermarket, eat at a Chinese restaurant and buy clothes at an American or UK shop. The scene is replicated in various high-end malls across the capital Nairobi, with the foreign brands taking sizeable space in the facilities. Henry Wandera, an economics lecturer in Nairobi, attributed the entrance of top brands in Kenya mainly to growing economy and Kenya’s position in the region.

Shopping Mall in Kenya

“The top brands are finding Kenya alluring because it is the region’s biggest economy. Once they establish in Kenya, they can easily enter any other country,” he said. He further noted that the Kenyan retail market is fast-growing thanks to rising incomes, thus opportunities are still huge in the country. “If you look at the food sector, the industry dominated by local shops, a majority with one or two branches. This offers chance for bigger foreign brands to come in,” he said, adding the global shops indicate that Nairobi is an attractive regional hub for investment.

Cytonn, a Nairobi-based investment firm, noted that various international retailers have penetrated the Kenyan market in the last six years.

The firm attributed the move to a number of factors, which include expanding middle class and vibrant real estate development; “Kenya’s private consumption expenditure has recorded the highest growth, since 2013 when it hit 8.4 percent in 2017, compared to 4.7 percent in 2016, 5.2 percent in 2015, and 4.3 percent in 2014. This is attractive to the brands,” said Cytonn.

The number of ultra-high net-worth individuals, those who are worth 50 million U.S. dollars and above in Kenya, rose by 13 percent to 90 in 2017 from 80 in 2016, according to Knight Frank’s Wealth Report 2018, with the number of wealthy Kenyans expected to increase by 58 percent on average by 2022. This is one of the reasons that lead to an increase in demand for luxury brands.

The rise in the top brands has had great impact on the East African nation’s real estate sector, with developers keen on building high-quality retail spaces that conform to international standards to attract multinational firms. These firms reaffirm Kenya’s position as one of the leading regional hubs for investments in the continent.
