The CHRONEXT 2021 Advent calendar itself comes in a near two-meter high wooden box coated with black piano lacquer. It has 24 illuminated doors, behind which are some of the world’s rarest and priciest luxury timepieces.

Remember the Black Panther Audemars Piguet timepiece that launched earlier this year and caused quite the storm in the industry? Limited to only 250 pieces at $162,000 per piece, it was almost certain that laying your hands on one would be quite the task. Well, you can now get it without any hassles as the CHRONEXT Advent Calendar will be containing one of this rare timepiece.

But that’s not all. Inside, you’ll also find a Rolex Cosmograph Daytona Leopard with a diamond setting and a rose gold A. Lange & Söhne Zeitwerk mechanical timepiece, both of which are singular examples of just a few in existence.

It does not come cheap, however. The luxury timepiece retailer has put the price at €2.3 million (nearly $3million) which is almost double the amount of its first calendar that debuted last year and cost €1.25 million. With all the timepieces it appers you would be getting, however, it does seem to be priced fairly.

While you can expect luxury brands to put a lot of thought and creativity into theirs, Tiffany&Co has catapulted itself to the top of the leader board with its calendar which pays homage to one of the most influential artists in the last century, Jean-Michel Basquiat.

The featured drawing is the artists’ 1982 work, Equals Pi, named after an array of mathematical equations that appear on the right side of the work, alongside scrawled text, figures and of course, the artist’s signature crown and skull motifs. This is the second time Tiffany would feature Equals Pi alongside its own pieces: just a couple of months back, the painting made a prominent appearance in its About Love campaign starring Jay Z and Beyoncé.

The 2021 Tiffany&Co advent calendar is a four-foot-tall cabinet made from white oak with the Basquiat painting covering its front. Inside sits twenty-four bow-wrapped boxes with numbered hangtags and filled with Tiffany jewellery and other gifts. The actual content of these boxes is not yet known, but you can be sure that whatever is in there is as opulent and exquisite as any Tiffany piece is.

But the jewellery brand wants this year’s advent calendar to do more than grace your shelf and adorn your body: according to a press release, the brand will make a $250,000 donation from the sales of the calendar to Free Arts NYC, a non-profit that provides art and mentoring programs to underserved communities.

So, if you’re looking for the perfect gift for the ultimate jewellery lover who also happens to love art – and it does not matter if that person is you – then you should make an appointment on the brand’s website now before the limited quantities, retailing for $150,000 per piece, sells out.

Co-designed by Michele Clapton, the award-winning British costume designer who worked on the eight-season saga, the one-off objet d’art is reminiscent of the dragon eggs that Daenerys Targaryen is gifted in the first season, albeit much more embellished. The collectible also pays tribute to Daenerys’s detailed costumes and riveting story arc, particularly her ascent from orphaned exile to formidable monarch.

“The design references Daenerys Targaryen’s incredible journey and the importance of colour within her costumes, her passion for her dragons, and the way she portrayed messages via her jewellery throughout her journey on the show,” Clapton said in a statement. “References from the textures of the dragons and their iconic eggs were used to inform the surfaces of this egg object.”

This collector’s item showcases the storied jeweller’s superior craftsmanship and is replete with diamonds, 18-karat white gold and fine enamelling. In classic Fabergé fashion, it also opens up to reveal even more bling within – and luckily, you won’t have to wade into a fire to get it to open. At the centre, a miniature crown sits atop a glistening crystal base. This is a smaller version of the diadem that Daenerys would have donned if she’d managed to hold the Iron Throne for longer than a few moments. (Spoiler alert! She was killed by her nephew/lover Jon Snow) The crown is set with a sizable pear-cut ruby, which was responsibly sourced from the Gemfields Montepuez ruby mine in Mozambique.

“I knew instantly what the secret gift should be, there was never a doubt; it had to be the crown that Daenerys believed throughout her life was her destiny,” Clapton added. “With the crown, I referenced her dragons, their wings sweeping around protecting the beautiful Gemfields ruby that represents Daenerys, her house colour, and her fierce quest to rule.”

Naturally, the once-in-a-lifetime collector’s item will likely set you back a pretty penny: Fabergé has confirmed that the GoT egg will cost $2.2 million, which is no surprise considering the budget for the series itself ran into tens of millions of dollars.
